Hello

Hello and welcome to my Deaf interpreting portfolio.  I am so glad you are here!  My name is Grace Scheller.  I am a Deaf individual who has been using American Sign Language as a primary language for over 25 years.   I am also a Deaf interpreter.  My goal is to provide accessible language to the Deaf and DeafBlind community.   In this website you will find information about my work experience as well and samples of my work.  It is my hope that this portfolio provides you with an insight as to who I am, and the skills that I have acquired that will help enhance the interpreting community.

My Story

I was originally born in Baton Rouge but later moved to northern Virginia, where I grew up.   I attended high school at Model Secondary School for the Deaf.   I earned my high school diploma in 2002 and entered Gallaudet University in the fall as an Undergraduate Student.   In December of 2009, I earned my Undergraduate degree in Elementary Education.   I worked in Deaf schools like Kendall Demonstration Elementary School; Louisiana School for the Deaf; and The Learning Center for the Deaf; as a after school educator and a teacher's assistant.   In 2016, I relocated to Austin, Texas, where I am currently located.  Then in the summer of 2002, I entered Austin Community College to earn a Associate Degree in ASL interpreting.
